3D rendering is the process used to convert (or render) a 3D model into a 2D image. The process is completed entirely by a computer. There are many different methods of rendering an image, called algorithms. Some produce realistic results and some are highly stylized. Examples of these are ray tracing, radiosity, wireframe, or phong shading.
An example of 3D rendering is architectural rendering.
